Director of Fun on The Nick Elston Show!

It seems like everyone has started a podcast or been a guest on their friend's over the last year and I have to say, alongside Christmas music, they've quickly become my favourite thing to listen to while I work! So, when I heard our very own Director of Fun, Sunny Sandwell, was appearing on Nick Elston's self titled podcast, I was very excited to listen.

Nick is an Inspirational Speaker, Transformational Speaking Coach and founder of Forging People, encouraging people to speak up and find their voice in all areas of life and he originally met Sunny during lockdown when they were both guest speakers at a virtual Contact Centre, talking about the value of workplace wellbeing within contact centres. Nick has been podcasting since 2021 and is currently in his fifth season of The Nick Elston Show, where he has a huge variety of guests from celebs to speakers to entrepreneurs come on and tell their stories, so back in June when he sent Sunny an email asking if she fancied being a guest she just had to say yes!

With Nick being based in Bristol, the interview took place over Zoom from Sunny's own office and the 50 minute conversation saw the pair of them take a deep dive into the beginnings of Sunny's career, what made her want to start The Fun Experts and how she alongside her husband and fellow Director of Fun, James, pivoted through the pandemic to get to where they are today. In the second half of the interview, the pair got serious about the connection between fun and mental health, the importance of a 'fun' culture and what that really looks like and in true Nick Elston style, the interview was wrapped up with the question: "What would your 'walk on' music of choice be?" which Sunny answered with a classic, Happy by Pharrell Williams!

According to Sunny, the whole interview was very relaxed, so much so that she forgot Nick was recording, so I doubt this will be the last time we see Sunny appear as a podcast guest! In the mean time, you can listen to the full episode Here on YouTube as well as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and most other listening platforms.
